Great Baddow School are looking to recruit an IT Support Apprentice. To undertake the following responsibilities in consultation and collaboration with the IT Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide both hardware and software support for users of the School’s classroom-based ICT Computer Systems infrastructure (e.g. desktops, laptops, tablets)
  • Performs computer hardware repairs and upgrades
  • Perform software installations and upgrades
  • Provide support for computer and non-computer-based ICT equipment (e.g. smart boards, projectors, printers, A/V equipment etc.)
  • Assist in the detection, diagnose and resolution of computer, peripheral and application errors
  • Assist Teaching Staff in the preparation of ICT equipment needed for delivering educational programmes
  • Assist the rest of the ICT Support team as and when required
  • Assist in the resolution of any issues to ensure the ICT equipment is fully operational in all classrooms
  • Respond promptly and support staff requests for ICT assistance
  • Assist in audits of all ICT equipment and infrastructure and in the maintenance of the ICT inventory
  • Report any escalate system issues to the Network Manager and IT Support Team where necessary
  • Respond to requests made by the Network Manager related to hardware and software
  • Securing the ICT equipment when not in use

Other Responsibilities:

  • To demonstrate a willingness to work flexibly, sometimes outside of normal core hours, in response to service demands as agreed with the Network Manager
  • Undertake any other tasks reasonably required
  • Follow the school’s policies and procedures
Working Hours

8am-4.30pm, Monday – Friday

Expected Duration

15 months

Skills
  • Excellent spoken, written and verbal English with an eye for detail, design and attention to detail
  • Able to work with precision, dexterity and co-ordination
  • Ability to plan and prioritise own workload, act on own initiative and manage conflicting demands
  • Handling of computerised information with care, accuracy, confidentially and securely
Personal Qualities
  • Ability to work independently and, at the same time, understand the value of teamwork
  • Suitability to work with children and young people
  • Ability to take initiative and work proactively to provide solutions to unexpected problems and situations
  • To adopt professional standards whilst communicating with external agencies, students, parents and staff
  • Ability to lift and carry, the pushing and the pulling of computer equipment on a regular basis and to occasionally work in awkward positions, (e.g. under desks)
Qualifications
  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent qualifications at grade C/4 or above including Maths and English
